In 2026, preparation for the VIII IMBRICS Forum has begun with active work with representatives of the Brazilian business community. The head of the Forum Organizing Committee attended a number of business events for entrepreneurs in Russia and Brazil, including conferences, a business forum, business lunches and dinners, as well as specialized meetings. On February 4, one of the evening receptions took place, in which Maksim Reshetnikov, a number of deputy ministers, including Andrey Guryev, Alexander Shokhin, Mikhail Cherepanov, as well as heads of business associations and businesses took part. The list of participants from Brazil mirrored the list of participants from Russia. At the Russian-Brazilian Business Forum, organized by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Brazilian Export Development Agency ApexBrasil, the Russia-Brazil and Brazil-Russia Business Councils. The event was attended by Mikhail Mishustin, Russian Ambassador to Brazil Aleksey Labetsky, Aleksey Overchuk, Maksim Reshetnikov, Oksana Lut, Sergey Ryabkov, Andrey Nikitin, Mikhail Murashko, Olga Lyubimova, Valery Falkov, Alexander Shokhin, Andrey Guryev, Aleksey Gruzdev, as well as many participants from large Russian companies and holdings. On the Brazilian side, the event was attended by representatives of federal executive authorities, business associations and business communities, similar to the level of the accredited list from Russia. A separate meeting took place in the Brazilian Parliament with a deputy in charge of interaction with the MERCOSUR countries, which is especially important for Forum partners interested in building practical mechanisms for entering the markets of Latin American countries.
“We are interested in active cooperation with national industrial associations to form diverse delegations to the VIII Forum, which will be held in St. Petersburg,” shared Mikhail Cherepanov
As part of the working trip, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Forum also visited the port of Santos, the largest port in Latin America. During the meeting with representatives of the Port, issues of interaction in the field of development of transport and logistics routes, prospects for expanding maritime transport, as well as possible directions for deepening investment cooperation between Russian and Brazilian entrepreneurs were discussed. We separately processed requests that were interesting for the Forum’s strategic partners - the St. Petersburg Exchange, IVA Company, Fast North and other partners.
This year, special emphasis will be placed on the B2B negotiations area, which will allow our partners to diversify their presence at the Forum with a large number of negotiations and acquaintances with personally selected companies from more than 53 countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
“The format of communication in the B2B zone in 2025 became one of the driving forces behind the successful holding of the VII Forum, and in 2026 we plan to expand this space to enhance the productivity of meetings of all interested participants,” said the Chairman of the Organizing Committee.
The first meeting of the Organizing Committee in the new year, during which the approval of the co-chairman of the Organizing Committee - a representative of India, will take place, is scheduled for the end of March. A work plan will also be approved and members of the Organizing Committee will take an active part in various business events and business missions in the BRICS countries.
